Thanks for asking the question. The sales tax will go from 0.07 to 0.08 and increase of 0.01. By dividing 0.01 by the current rate of 0.07 you get the increase of 14.283% or rounding off 14.3%.

We are talking about an increase in the sales tax rate from Davis' Transportation tax of 14.3%, from 0.07 to 0.08.

I guess it gets down to how much money is enough to spend on government projects. The regional approach has benefits but seems to have more cons for me than pros. When we will be voting in 2013 to keep the curent SPLOST we could do these projects. How much money is enough for government is the question. With the fact Henry County taxes looks like they are going up to pay for a larger budget I can not keep opening my check book to the never ending taxes.

You can find a complete list of projects here:
http://www.atlantaregionalroundtable.com/documents/Fact_Sheets_Final_Investment_List_Higher_Resolution.pdf

Also The county gets additional funds to be used as county desires.

All told based off the current SPLOST programs Henry (about $27million + a year being collected) will pay in about $280 million and get back nearly 97% (roughly $271.6 million.) I'll see if I can find the link.

BJ Mathis did a good job making sure Davis' TSPLOST brought home more than many other counties ended up with.

HI Charles, you may have mentioned this in an earlier post but do you have the actual figures of how much money Henry would get as part of TSPLOST vs. how much we would keep if we did our on local TSPLOST?
